A Trip to the Sunny State, California – Santa Cruz Edition
by Girl Gone Domestic
The third and final installment of my California trip photos.
A drive south on Highway 1 brought us to the wonderfully beachy city of Santa Cruz, where we stayed 2 nights.
Our first evening in Santa Cruz proved to be absolutely breathtaking.
It was as if we were in a postcard.
The colorful hanging lamps in this shop drew us in.
A wall of paper butterflies.
As laundry washed at the laundromat, we took a walk. Two blocks away we ended up on Seabright Beach.
A peace sign planted in the sand.
The Santa Cruz Boardwalk at dusk.
Our last full day in California was so brimming and happy. We drove back along the coast to the San Francisco area, and spent the afternoon picnicking and napping in the sun at Muir beach. Then we spent the evening in the town square of what we deemed as our home away from home, Mill Valley. We picked up a yummy Thai steak salad from BooKoo and watched this little town’s night life unfold. Older men gathered around tables playing backgammon, families with kids on scooters taking evening strolls, a group of young men set up a concert while more families gather around and dance. It was all so peaceful & lovely. The perfect ending to a remarkable trip.
The next morning we set off on our 14 hour journey home. And the sunrise was a beautiful good bye gift from the sunny state.
